Maritime painter Ingrid Dingjan is inspired by the world of the sea and shipping. Subjects are among others: sailboats, skûtsjes, barges, container ships, terminals, oil rigs, work islands and naval frigates. But also seascapes, dunes and beaches.
Not what the eye saw but what the heart felt.
You had to have been there, you had to have felt the swell of the sea, the salt on your lips, the colors of the sky and the water, the wind in your hair. The smells from the ship, that is what you need to experience. Those impressions are very important and at the root of my paintings.
